n.b. same as with the Shelta pattern given on 5 Sept 2019 these do not feel authentic to me, so I will not paint them or complete the crochet at present though I do not know whether another pattern will ever be given.

Shelta

Rowan Summerlite 4ply cotton
Hook 3
3 – 419 (Sky) background (Divine intervention)
2 – 428 (Duck) D (Ducking the issue)30 sq.
1 – 424 (Twilight) T (Two lights, working together) 15sq.
1 – 441 (Heart) H (Hearing You) 15sq.
3 – 429 (Navy) N (No) 45sq.
5 – 436 (Whisper) W (Whisper in your ear) 75sq.

ALTERATION from what was written before:
The 2 – 436 (Whisper) W will not be used here, but are now included in Incognito. To replace those 30 squares all 3 balls of Navy will be used and an additional ball of Pumpkin added. The pattern for the replacement of what are now Whisper squares will be given on 5th September 2019. Also the name given on this blog for the colour n.436 is changed from White to Whisper.
Other possible changes:
1.) all the Whisper squares could be used here and all the Pumpkin ones in Incognito. To see what this would look like, in the picture below all the Pumpkin squares have been covered by squares of white paper However, 12 squares of Navy would still need to be allocated.

2.) The pattern could be re-written.
This would be mostly dark blues, white and a tiny amount of primary red on a light blue background.

180 squares
12 x 15 rows
Summer Cover has directions for squares, joining and edging

PATTERN: n.b (1) This pattern does not feel complete to me so will not be made into the crochet here at this time.

(?Pattern below could also be a timeline after Summer Cover, from a different perspective and ending in September 2019, ie Jan 2018 – Aug 2019 incl?)

PATTERN: n.b. (2) this also does not seem to me like the true pattern, so I will not paint this or make the Shelta crochet at the moment, although I am not given any indication that another third pattern will be given and if so at what time or to whom.

Summer Cover

Rowan Summerlite 4ply cotton
aprox 2 or 3 x 438 (Earth) joining and edging
1 x 418 (Cloud) 15 sq. C
2 x 428 (Duck) 30 sq. D
1.5 x 419 (Sky) 22 sq. S
3 x 424 (Twilight) 45 sq. T
5 x 422 (Heron) 68 sq. H

(aprox. 120 x 150 cm) 180 squares about 9 x 9 cm each

Plastic coated Hook 3 generally

SQUARES all colours except Earth chain of 5 joined into circle by slipstitch
Round 1 4 groups of 3 trebles joined by chain of 3
Round 2 onwards: a treble in each treble below and ‘2 trebles 3 chain 2 trebles’ in each 3 chain below. 4 Rounds in all.
n.b. at the beginning of each round the treble is replaced by a chain of 3 and each round is closed by a slipstitch to the top of that chain.
4 groups of 3 trebles for round 1
4 groups of 7 trebles for round 2
4 groups of 11 trebles for round 3
4 groups of 15 trebles for found 5
each group separated by chain of 3, working in rounds on the right side only.

LOOSE ENDS of squares darned back into central circle on wrong side. Loose ends of joins and edging darned into thick seams of joins on the wrong side.

JOINING in Earth in double crochet Hook 3. Right sides together and inserting hook under strands of first front edge and corresponding back edge only. Seams on all squares facing the same direction preferred.

EDGING in Earth in double crochet Hook 3. Facing right side, double crochet in outside (back) strands only, preferring that both in joining and edging the squares are slightly proud of the background in Earth.
One double crochet in each double crochet of the squares, one double crochet in the joins and three double crochets in the four corners of the cover.

Can be joined in many ways, this is one: Joining two single rows, two squares at a time. Then joining the double rows together. Then joining the groups of four rows.
Then joining the rows across, pulling the loop under the crossing join with the hook to continue. All in double crochet, attaching the central 17 or so stitches. Aligning the corners. The seams need more care to take the strands well back in order to make the square lift above the background.
