There’s a Light (Fauve)

Deer enclosure at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo

Having enjoyed the slightly abstract colours of the Rhinos, I played around with the colours of the image (with picture manager) of the deer enclosure to make the most of the fauve/fauvist allusion, though not entirely. Colours are Aureolin, French Ultramarine, Permanent Rose, Burnt Umber and Hooker’s Green Dark. With Aquapasto Medium.
19.12.17: The tube paints I was using were too intense, so I went back to the pans and half pans, which I find easier to use with the Aquapasto.
20.12.17: The colours are much more vivid, so am adding Magenta to make a more lurid Pink and Prussian Blue to the skyline.
21.12.17: The Hooker’s Green in my pan was not ‘Dark’ like the one in the tube so I changed it to Winsor Green (Blue Shade), mixed with Burnt Umber.
